I originally heard Greg Peters of The Reluctant Networker speak at LA2M, a local event, and immediately knew I wanted to have him present to my Search Marketing Practicum students at Eastern Michigan University.
Networking is an important component of my Search Marketing Practicum class. My students are hard working, smart, and accomplished in the classroom, but they have had only limited experience as business networkers. They felt overwhelmed by trying to put themselves forward at a networking event and many had lost hope of ever being good at the process — having the misperception that they had to be “social butterflies” in order to succeed.
In his program with this class, Greg provided the students with concrete, down-to-earth tips, techniques, and tactics. His friendly and open presentation style made the learning experience both fun and effective.
I’ve already seen a very positive change in how the students approach their networking practice. Greg inspired them to make the effort to engage with those around them and continually improve their networking skills. He also helped them discover networking is more than just a process to find work. It can be a bridge to a better, more enjoyable life.
I’m looking forward to working with Greg again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him to anyone needing a great speaker.
